Willow Oaks Drainage Improvement

Watershed Consulting worked with George Golf Design to provide drainage improvement and renovation services to Willow Oaks Country Club while ensuring FEMA floodplain compliance. Floodplain modeling of the James River was executed to understand how flood events impact the golf course. By comparing existing and proposed conditions, we established design criteria which ensured a FEMA compliant no-rise condition for the James River floodplain. Drainage improvements included construction of a series of ponds and wetlands and installation of a backflow prevention gate to minimize backwater effects of the James River.
