Shady Valley Stream Restoration

Watershed Consulting applied 2D hydraulic modeling to assist stream and wetland restoration design of a NRCS Wetland Restoration Project. The goal of the project is to improve ecological and hydrologic conditions for the endangered bog turtle and native cranberry as well as to stabilize incised stream segments. 2D hydraulic modeling was applied to evaluate stream-floodplain connectivity and cranberry bog saturation at various flood events. Channel velocity and bed shear stress were evaluated with 2D hydraulics modeling. The application of 2D hydraulics ensured both a stable and ecologically functioning stream-wetland system.

Location:
Shady Valley, TN
